Covid 19 Implications for current year 13 cohort
October 2020
As a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020, the vast majority of applicants for the 2021 entry cycle will have experienced some form of disruption to their formal education. While some of the impact will be felt equally across all students, some students may also have been affected to a greater degree due to their individual circumstances.
Due to Covid 19, Clapton Girls’ Academy was closed to all year 12 students from 25 March 2020 in line with government guidance.
All teaching was delivered via remote learning. Staff uploaded work and resources for students onto the Academy’s remote learning platform in order for students to access work from home.
From 22 June to 23 July 2020, students in year 12 had two hours per week per subject of live streamed lessons taught alongside work uploaded on to the remote learning platform. The work primarily consisted of note taking and retrieval style tasks to check understanding.
No formal assessments under controlled conditions were able to take place during this time.
This was in contrast to the 10 hours of teaching per subject that the students would have received if on site and the formal set of exams in controlled conditions which would have ordinarily taken place at the end of the summer term.
